About This Quote

Every war has its martyrs – the unsung heroes who sometimes don't even know the rationale behind the war they are fighting. They fight because they are trained to, kill because they are told to and die because they are destined to. It is natural for the soldier to feel no regret for his duty or duty to country, and such a duty is noble and right for him. When he dies, he is like a martyr.

The only regret he may have is not having done enough for his country. But we hear no regrets from those who die for their country in times of peace, and we should not be so quick as to condemn those who do so bravely and stoically in times of war.
